Problem/Question
Users may ask you what is the difference between a driver and its V2 version. And which one they have to choose.
Solution/Work-Around
General information
In most of the cases where there is a driver and the same with the extension V2, it is not related to the hardware. So, both drivers would work. There is a reason why we build a V2 version instead of just edit and replace the driver (after an SDK update). With the changes, we might take away a feature or a setting from the driver which would make a lot of trouble for operators which are used to use this option since a while.
Simple rule-of-thumb
- Import PrintEnvironments when updating Ergosoft.
- Add the V2 diver for setting up a new printer.
Exception(s)
There might be (hardware updated) printers with a v2 in its name or printer control software with different versions. In this case, of course it is strongly recommended to use the corresponding driver.
