Roland TrueVIS VG3-540 - no white is printed on Ink Assignment Chart

Problem/Question

You are using a Roland TrueVIS VG3 and print an Ink Assignment Chart to verify the Printing Ink Assignment in the Print Environment Settings.
Although a white ink tank is installed and the corresponding slot is enabled, no white ink is printed. You're wondering "Why?" and "How can I print white?".

Solution/Work-Around

In general, all ink slots configured in the Print Environment Settings are considered when generating an Ink Assignment Chart. Exceptions may occur, however, for example with the Roland TrueVIS VG3.

By default, the selected Print Mode processes only the primary color channels (CMYK) or additionally installed Spot Colors (e.g., orange, green). White ink is ignored if the Print Mode does not explicitly support it.

To print white as well, proceed as follows:
  1. Open the Print Environment Settings.
  2. Select a Print Mode that supports both color and white ink.

  3. Ensure this Print Mode is active before printing the Ink Assignment Chart.
  4. Reprint the Ink Assignment Chart.

When a Print Mode with white support is selected, white ink will be included in the Ink Assignment Chart alongside CMYK and any other supported spot colors.
