White channel optimization
Problem/Question
When printing a white solid area, there are always gaps in the print. This can result from the white channel settings in the Print Environment. This usually happens with inks that dry quickly on the print media and only have a low dot gain.
Solution/Work-Around
- Go to the Print Environment that contains one ore more white channels
- Select the tab "Printing Ink Assignment"
- Click on the <Setting> Button
- Set the "Generate Density" value to 100%
- Disable the "Legacy Optionen"
- Click <Ok> and save the Print Environment with <Ok> as well
Note: Of course, this works for Finish/Varnish und Midlayer channels. If you have multiple channels, these steps must be performed for each channel.
- Import the file in which you have created a solid channel and select it
- Select the tab "Extra Channels" under Actions & Properties
- Activate "Specify Mapping" in the "Extra Channels" field Note: The available special channels are listed there. Select the one you need here
- Select "Custom Color" from the "Fill with" drop-down menu
- Select the spot color named in the file from the drop-down menü below
- In the "Options" field in the "Gradiation" drop-down menu select "50 Percent"
- Click the button <Apply>
Note: These setting can then be saved as Image Preset.
