RipEngine crashes immediately when starting
Problem/Question
Whenever the RipEngine is started, it crashes immediately. In some cases, it is visible that it begins to process a Job (Usually the same job every time, regardless of which Job was sent last.)
The most common source of this problem is when a Job crashes at the RipEngine and gets stuck in the QueueManager (and therefore in the PrintQueue). When this happens, the RipEngine will attempt to process the Job every time it is started but fails.
Sometimes you receive the error message "PPRipserv.exe has encountered a Problem and needs to close"
Solution/Work-Around
- Close the RipEngines
- Open the QueueManager
- Check the "Print" and "Rip" tabs
- Remove all the Jobs from both Queues
- Start the RipEngine manually
- Check if the RipEngine start processing a Job
If the RipEngine doesn't start processing a Job, the issue is fixed.
If the next job crashes again, possibly broken temporary raster data might be interfering with the rasterize process.
- Close the RipEngines
- Open JobComposer
- Got to top Menu <Tools>
- Open <Application Defaults>
- Select "PostScript/PDF Interpreter"
- Click <Empty Folder>
To ensure the file is not the cause, try another file as well.
