Printer only uses CMYK despite Ink Assignment containing additional colors
Problem/Question
Your printer contains additional colors such as Red or Green in addition to CMYK, but does not use them. You are now wondering, “What should I do?” or “Why is that?”
Solution/Work-Around
The following overview illustrates how input colors are mapped to output channels when a
Profile is stored in a Print Environment. If no
Input Profile is stored in an image or EPS/PDF object, the
Color Management System is bypassed and input colors are mapped directly to output channels. If, on the other hand, an Input Profile is stored, the Color Management System is applied and additional printer colors, such as Red, are controlled.
If no Profile is stored in a Print Environment, generic color conversion takes place if an Input Profile is available. Input color values such as Red, Green, Blue, or Lab color values are mapped exclusively to CMYK output channels. Additional ink tanks, even if they are installed in the printer, are not controlled.
