Mimaki USB connectivity issues

Mimaki USB connectivity issues

Problem/Question
RIP PC or Ergosoft gets no connection to the printer or data transfer stops in the middle of printing using a USB connected Mimaki printer.

Solution/Work-Around

Check the connection of the USB Cable
  1. Remove the USB cable at the end of the Machine side and re-connect it again.
  2. Remove the USB cable at the end of the PC side and re-connect it again.
  3. Switch USB socket on PC to another side if the PC has several sockets.
  4. Check the USB cable condition and make sure it is not damaged.
  5. Remove other USB devices if there are some devices connected.
Checking standard of the PC and USB Cable
  1. Check if Mimaki USB Port or Mimaki USB2 Port is selected as port type
  2. Check if PC USB connector and USB cable are standardized USB 2.0.
  3. Standard length for USB cable is max. 5m. If cable length is not enough from USB port of Machine to PC, prepare extension cables.
Check the USB connection if data transfer was no problem before using extension cable.
  4. Replace USB cable
  5. Check the PCs specification. Insufficient PC performance can lead to the machine waiting for the data from PC and sometimes the head carriage goes back to the home position until enough data received. Data is received when printing mode is indicated in the printer panel. During this time if the head carriage is stopping at home position 2 seconds or more, the printing data is not coming from the PC fast enough.
Other checks
  1. Try performing of Data clear once
  2. Reboot machine and PC
  3. Retry to print
  4. use a file interface to output data, of course the output path should also be verified to ensure full folder permissions and uninterrupted access to it.
