The Maintenance Tool contains a multitude of useful tools and functions for troubleshooting and maintenance of your Ergosoft RIP Installation. The tool itself acts as a hub from where you can launch the different settings and maintenance applications.
You can launch the Maintenance Tool from Start > Programs > Ergosoft 17 > Maintenance Tool.
This brings up the main window, divided into two tabs: Configuration and Troubleshooting.
Select User Interface Language: Brings up a menu that lets you change the user interface language of the RIP. Changing the User Interface Language will require restarting the Ergosoft RIP.
Set user data path: Brings up a menu that lets you change the path of the Ergosoft RIP user data folder (EsRip Folder) where user specific data is stored. The default path is C:\Users\Public\Documents\EsRip. Changing the User Interface Language will require restarting the Ergosoft RIP.
Note that changing the user data folder will change all user specific configurations of the RIP to the new user data folder, either taking over existing settings in the specified folder, or creating a new/empty set of user data files when selecting an empty folder.
Select Preflight Folder: Brings up a menu that lets you change the path where the Ergosoft RIP store generated PreFlight files. Changing the User Interface Language will require restarting the Ergosoft RIP.
RIP Master/Client configuration: Starts the configuration routine for distributed network installations, allowing you to configure network connections to the other RIP installations, setting up Master/Client relationshops etc. For more information, see the Distributed Network Setup.
Activate Windows Explorer Job Previews: When activated, saved .ppj job files in the Windows explorer will show a small preview of the Job. This can be taxing for certain older systems, so if you are encountering issues loading folders with .ppj files, you might want to turn this off using Deactivate Windows Explorer Job Previews.
Deactivate Windows Explorer Job Previews: When deactivated, saved .ppj job files in the Windows explorer will show a simple Job file icon instead of a Job preview. This can be more performance effective for certain older systems. Job Previews can be toggled on again at any time by using Activate Windows Explorer Job Previews.
Manage User Levels: Lets you configure and set user levels for your Ergosoft RIP installation, restricting editing priviledges for operating users, locking certain features or write protecting settings to avoid accidental changes. For more information, see Manage User Levels.
Show License Info: Opens a browser window displaying the license information of the currently plugged in Dongle. From the initial page, select the Dongle that you want to view the license information for and you will be taken to the license details for that Dongle. This lets you check what licenses are currently active in the RIP and in case of temporary licenses you will be able to see when they will expire.
Create
Support Data Zip File: Starts the Support.zip Tool
that gathers information about your installation such as user settings, exact
software version, error logs, etc. and saves them in a Support.zip file.
This can be very useful for technical support agents to quickly identify and
troubleshoot software issues, so generating a support.zip beforehand and
sending it along with your support request is always a good idea!
After starting the Tool, click Create File and wait while the data is gathered. At the end, select a location to save the support.zip.
Register COM Interfaces: Starts a Command prompt that rewrites the registry entries for the Ergosoft RIP. This can often help with problems from a faulty installation routine or when facing COM errors while running the RIP. After launching the Tool, wait for the command prompt to complete its task. When finished, it will display: Registration Finished! Press any Key... simply press a key on your keyboard to close the window and complete the procedure.
Empty Snapshot Folder list: Deletes the internal registry of Snapshot folders in the RIP. This can often help when Snapshots/Previews do not show up in the JobComposer (If instead of the image you see a box with diagonal lines). Empty Snapshot Folder list deletes the internal preview folder list, but this is nothing to be worried about. Entries are simply recreated by the RIP when needed, so this can be used liberally when facing issues with Previews/Snapshots.
Delete all temporary raster files: Deletes the temporary raster files of the RIP-Server. This can be useful when trying to free up space on the harddrive or to force the RIP-Server to entirely process a file again. Note after deleting temporary raster files, any previously rastered files will need to be rastered again to print them since previously stored rastered data is not available anymore.
Reset current print environment: Deselects the currently selected Print Environment in the Ergosoft RIP, but does not delete it. The next time you start the RIP the Print Environment Manager window automatically pop up asking you to select which Print Environment to use.
This can be useful when the RIP crashes on startup because of a defective Print Environment since it lets you get the RIP started and select a different Print Environment to troubleshoot (Print Environments are loaded early when starting the RIP, so a defective one may cause the RIP to crash on startup).
Reset current cut environment: Deselects the currently selected Cut Environment in the Ergosoft RIP, but does not delete it. The next time you start the RIP the Cut Environment Manager window automatically pop up asking you to select which Cut Environment to use.
This can be useful when the RIP crashes on startup because of a defective Cut Environment since it lets you get the RIP started and select a different Cut Environment to troubleshoot (Cut Environments are loaded early when starting the RIP, so a defective one may cause the RIP to crash on startup).
CodeMeter dongle network configuration: Starts the configuration wizard for the network dongle. This allows you to plug the Dongle into another computer but access its license from other systems in the network.
Reset current JobComposer workspace: Deselects the currently active JobComposer Workspace in the Ergosoft RIP, but does not delete it. The next time you start the RIP it will load with the default Workspace.
This can be useful when the RIP crashes on startup because of a defective JobComposer Workspace, since it lets you get the RIP started with the default workspace to troubleshoot (JobComposer Workspace are loaded early when starting the RIP, so a defective one may cause the RIP to crash on startup).
Click Ok or Cancel to close the Maintenance Tool window.
