Ruler Horizontal

Adds a horizontal ruler to the job. The ruler is inserted as an image in the job and can be manipulated as such. By default, the ruler is inserted with the width of the job, e.g. if you have 2 images in your job with a total width of 100cm, the ruler will be 100cm long.

The following settings are available for the ruler:

Tickmark Height: The height of the tickmarks on the ruler.

Color: The color of the ruler (Numbers and lines).

Full Width: How wide the ruler should be. The default is 0.0 which will automatically make the ruler as wide as the job is, i.e. the width of all images in the job. Enter a different value for a custom ruler size.

Use Inch Scale: Check this to switch the ruler to inches.

Ruler Vertical

Adds a Vertical ruler to the job. The ruler is inserted as an image in the job and can be manipulated as such. By default, the ruler is inserted with the length of the job, e.g. if you have 2 images in your job with a total length of 100cm, the ruler will be 100cm long.

The following settings are available for the ruler:

Tickmark Height: The height of the tickmarks on the ruler.

Color: The color of the ruler (Numbers and lines).

Use Inch Scale: Check this to switch the ruler to inches.

Symbols

The Symbols feature lets you add shapes and symbols like arrows, icons, warning labels from a predefined library to the job. It is also possible to add your own custom libraries to the symbols feature so you can customize the feature to your requirements.

By creating a symbol Preset and parameters for the symbol you can add them automatically to your jobs to reduce prepress work and reduce production errors by clearly labeling printouts and products.

To use symbols make sure no image is selected so the Properties & Actions pane displays the Job Properties. Go to Job Elements and you will find the Symbols Feature at the bottom of dialog.

Creating a Symbols Preset

To create a new Symbols Preset, click the green + icon under the Symbol Presets drop-down. A new dialog will open and show the settings for the Symbols Preset. Here you can configure the symbol you want to use and how it should be added to the Job. There are several settings available:

Symbol Image: Specifies the actual symbol you want to add. Ergosoft comes with several symbol libraries preinstalled: Arrows, Marks, Packing and Stamps. You can also use the Import icon to the right to add your own Symbols (Most popular image formats are supported) so they are available in the Symbols feature.

Image Format: Lets you set the size and scaling for the symbol as well as alignment and rotation.

Image Margin: Lets you set a margin on each side for the Symbol.

Extra Channels: Lets you set Extra Channel mapping for your Symbol. This is useful if e.g. you want to do a color replacement on your Symbol image or print your Symbol in a special color such as white. For more information on how to use Extra Channel Mapping see the corresponding article.

Color Management: Lets you specify individual Color Management for the symbol images.

Confirm with Ok and set a name to your Symbol preset.

Adding the Symbol to the Job

Once you have created your Symbol Preset, select it from the drop-down menu in Properties & Actions > Job Elements and click the Add Button. This will add your Symbol to the Job.

You can also add Symbols to your Position Templates, Variable Data Templates, Variables and Elements & Picture Templates to easily use them as part of your standard jobs.
