How to Completely Clean Up User Data Folder

How to Completely Clean Up User Data Folder

Problem/Question

What data do I remove to completely clean up my User Data folder?
Are there any utilities to help me with this in the Ergosoft Rip?

Solution / Workaround

SystemGuard is a tool designed to streamline the clean-up and management of certain files that are created each time a job is ripped and printed.  With a certain level of User Data accumulation in your Data Sub-folder as well as the Files Sub-folder,  it may be necessary to manually delete old files in some directories that are not cleaned up via System Guard.

SystemGuard Clean up Method

In SystemGuard, which is found in the Tools section of the Control Center, you have multiple options for cleaning up data
There are multiple types of data you can set to clean up,
You can set them to Auto-Delete and you can set how long to keep the files for before deleting them.
Here are the options available.
  1. Temporary Files
  2. Preflight
  3. Print Environment Archive
  4. Online Connector Images
  5. Job Archive
  6. System Logs
  7. Color Management Autosave
Setting up SystemGuard to clean up your Data Folder is a great way to help keep your system clean.
There is also a button in the SystemGuard utility to "Empty all folders now" This can be used to manually clear out all the folders quickly

IMPORTANT

Please note the manual clean up process below will clear your Ques history, So all jobs will need to be ripped again and history will be removed. )

Extended Cleanup Method

Once SystemGuard is setup there is another 2 steps that can be very helpful, especially if you're experiencing any User Interface or Database issues.
These issues can include but are not limited to...
  1. Ripped jobs, Rip and Print, but don't show in the Print queue
  2. The error "driver not licensed" shows for a valid print queue license
  3. Printed jobs don't show up in Ergolytics or the QueManager Database
If you are experiencing any of these issues or other issues that seem to have just started out of the blue,
The following manual clean up process should be helpful.

Manual Clean up Part 1

( Please note this manual clean up process will clear your Ques history, So all jobs will need to be ripped again and history will be removed. )

This section will show you what to clean up in the Data folder
  1. Find the locations of your User Data Folder ( Can be found in the Help/About Menu )
  2. This is the default location C:\Users\Public\Documents\EsRip\17\Data
  3. Shutdown your Ergosoft Rip completely
  4. Navigate in Windows Explorer to your User Data Folder Location
  5. Inside the data folder look for these 3 folders and delete them
    1. JobTickets
    2. JQServeJobs
    3. JQServJournals
  6. Once those folders are deleted continue to part 2 below

Manual Clean up Part 2

This section will show you what to clean up in the Files folder
  1. Find the locations of your User Files Folder ( Can be found in the Help/About Menu )
  2. This is the default location C:\Users\Public\Documents\EsRip\17\Files
  3. Shutdown your Ergosoft Rip completely
  4. Navigate in Windows Explorer to your User Files Folder Location
  5. Delete everything inside these folders
    1. JobPreviewCache
    2. PrintIntermed
    3. Raster
    4. SnapRO
    5. TEMP
However, Do Not Delete the folders inside the Spool folder.
Inside the Spool folder open all other folders and delete the files inside those folders.
In this example don't delete the folder named "Printer 1", open the Printer 1 folder and delete the files inside it.

Following this process can prevent issues from arising that might cause downtime or corrupt data.
Keeping your data clean can help prevent your drive from filling up and keep things running smoothly.
This Extended Cleanup is a great place to start when troubleshooting and can fix many errors and issues you might experience.
