How to Change Spool Data Folder

Problem/Question

How can I change the spool data folder?
Why would I need to change the location of my Spool Data Folder?

Solution/Work-Around

Changing the location of your spool data folder can be easily done from the Control Center.
Here are the steps.
  1. Make sure all your Print Queues are Shutdown ( you may need to check your system tray )
  2. Open Control Center
  3. Click the Queues Tab
  4. Click Manage
  5. In the "Setup Print/CutQueue" window select your queue from the dropdown list
  6. Click the Edit button on the right
  7. Here you can change your Spool Data Folder to any local drive you'd like

Spool Data takes up a lot of space compared to the original image. A 1MB image can end up being 1GB of Spool Data because this is the data that is sent to the printer to print.
So please don't delete all your Spool Data if you still have jobs to print. If you delete the spool data and the try to print the job, the job will give you an error.
However, being able to easily change this location is useful since you can change it to a secondary data drive. Also knowing where you Spool data is stored helps you know how to
clean up your old spool data if needed
