Access Rights

Access Rights

The user rights feature in ErgoSoft RIPs allows you to set up different user profiles for the RIP and fine tune which features the user can access and change. This can be very useful in a production environment to avoid accidental changes in parameters by the operator and ensuring consistent settings throughout production. The access profiles can be password protected so only authorized users such as system administrators can change the configuration of the RIP.

To set up different user profiles for the RIP, close the JobComposer and in the Ergosoft Control Center, go to Tools > Access Rights.

The maintenance tool will open and display all the different available features. Select Manage User Levels to open the user level settings.

Activating Access Right Protection

Use the Activate User Rights toggle on the top left of the dialog to turn user right protection On and Off. It will be off by default, simply click the toggle so the magenta is visible and confirm with Ok to activate the user right protection.

Configuring a new user

To configure a new set of user rights, click the Green + icon next to the dropdown menu. A prompt will appear asking you to name your user type. Enter a name and confirm with Ok.

With the newly defined user selected, check or uncheck the different types of operations from the list that the user should or should not be able to perform. If the toggle shows magenta, it means that the user is allowed to perform this operation. If it is empty/black, the user may not perform this operation.

Configure the user as desired. The settings are automatically saved, so you may switch between users at any time without losing the settings.

You may of course add as many users as you wish. To add additional users, simply click the + button again.

If you wish to delete or rename an existing user, simply use the appropriate icons next to the user dropdown menu.

Setting a Password

To set a password for one of the users, select it in the dropdown menu and click the Password button next to it. Enter the password twice and confirm with Ok to set the password for the user. The password will then be required to switch to this user in the ErgoSoft RIP. Note that the password is not required to start the RIP, as it will always start with the currently active user, but switching to a protected user type requires that users password.

 Set User Level

Sets the current user level for the ErgoSoft RIP. Click Set User Level, select the user that you would like to activate and enter the respective password. After confirming, this user will then be active the next you start the ErgoSoft RIP.
